Where I’ve Been

My most recent trip was in May to Palma on the island of Mallorca. I spent so much time just wandering through the narrow streets of this gorgeous city as well as staring at the beautiful blue ocean that is all around.

Two to Try

  1. Rent a bike from Palma Lock & Go in the main train station at Placa d’Espana. Ask for a helmet and a map. Get used to the bike on the cycle lanes down to the coast and then own it on the purpose built bike path to El Molinar or the port, then turn around and do it all again. If you do get to El Arenal (using the roads and promenades) hang out on the beach for a while and pick up a bocadillo from one of the beachside cafés.

2. Join the Spanish in their paseo – the evening stroll – through the narrow streets in the old town such as Carrer de Sant Miquel and Carrer del Sindicat. Stop in at a few shops, pick up a little beer or rest on a bench in one of the many oblong squares overshadowed by ornate churches and watch the island go by.

Where To Next

I wish I knew! I have no plans for the rest of the summer but hopefully I can squeeze in a few mischievous overnighters around Ireland!

East Cork Right Now

Ballymaloe Malt and Music Weekend is coming up soon – 30th June to 2nd July – with Little Green Cars, Jerry Fish and more. Ballymaloe Cookery School Gardens are always worth a visit. It is €6 to wander around the gardens and then you can grab a cuppa in the Farm Shop and Café. See the website for opening hours.
