My last adventure was before Christmas but I am only getting around to writing about it now. I spent a week in Portugal followed by 2 weeks in the south of Spain. There were highs and lows but overall it was a great trip😊

I will admit to being lazy and not putting all that much effort into researching Portugal! So busy the last few weeks before I left is my excuse and I’m sticking to it…

I did stumble upon this book: Porto City Guide by Tanya Ford, while playing around with a new Amazon feature: Kindle Unlimited. This is a subscription service that allows you to borrow as many books as you want (well, maximum ten at a time) for only £8/€10 a month. Unfortunately not all books are in this borrowing scheme though it is still worth a try – 30-day free trials are available.

I also read Wikitravel’s page on Porto and a post by This Battered Suitcase on the famous Porto sandwich, the francesinha.

Here are a few things I learnt about Porto:
 Porto is Portugal’s second largest city and has a population of ~350,000
 Its historical centre is an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996
 The mantra of the city is ‘While Lisbon lazes, Porto labours’

I managed to find a guidebook dedicated to Lisbon in my library Pocket Lisbon by Rough Guides.

I also read Lisbon’s Wikitravel page and some blog posts e.g. The Fresh Exchange, Hand Luggage Only as well as exploring some Pinterest tags.

While I was there, as I was complaining so much!, Lux Lisbon (@lisbonluxcom) on Twitter and LisboaLive (@lisboalive) on Instagram gave me even more tips!
